Sheffield Hallam University is the most prominent university in the UK for driving improvements in education and championing social mobility – particularly within the region it serves.
We’ve engaged more than 50,000 local young people through the University’s award-winning schools and colleges programme since its launch in 2015 – almost a 1,000 separate activities.
We give students the opportunity to succeed whatever their background. In 2016/17 Sheffield Hallam gave more students from neighbourhoods with historically low numbers going on to higher education the chance to study than any other university in the UK.

We develop the education workforce of tomorrow. From early years through to higher education, Sheffield Hallam provides over 1,000 qualified teachers each year to the education system regionally and nationally.
What next?
The University has committed to improving education across South Yorkshire through its ground-breaking social mobility partnership: South Yorkshire Futures.
The flagship project is backed by the Department for Education and the Sheffield City Region Elected Mayor Dan Jarvis MP. It aims to improve attainment and raise aspiration for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds across all age groups, whilst developing a dedicated workforce to support them.
